Land Rover has recently celebrated the production of its 500,000th Range Rover Evoque at Halewood, just over four years after deliveries of the luxury compact SUV commenced.The Range Rover Evoque has turned out to be the fastest-selling and most successful Land Rover ever produced, having become the quickest to reach the half-a-million vehicle production landmark. One in every three Land Rovers sold around the world is a Range Rover Evoque and the continued strong global demand through forward orders ensures that the production line at Halewood will remain in operation 24 hours a day, with a new vehicle coming off the line every 80 seconds.

The Freelander 1 which was produced between 1997 and 2006 has now been announced officially as a Land Rover Heritage Vehicle and now becomes the brand’s eighth Heritage model. The others being Series I, II and III, Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38, together with the Discovery 1 and 2 models.

Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's leading manufacturer of premium luxury vehicles has reported its best ever January retail sales of 46,016 vehicles, up 24% on January 2015.Retail sales for the month of January were up year-on-year across all regions: 65% in Europe, 36% in the UK, 9% in North America, and 5% in China. Other overseas markets were up 15% year-on-year.

Jaguar Land Rover has now taken over from Nissan as the largest car manufacturer in the UK. What a great British success story. The company was nearly on its knees in 2009 having faced falling sales and massive pressure from the Green Lobby who were against anything 4x4 at that time, with particular focus on Land Rover.

Land Rover Discovery Sport wins Best Premium Small 4x4 Prize in the BusinessCar AwardsLand Rover has done it again, scooping a major prize in the BusinessCar Awards for the third time in four years with the announcement that Discovery Sport has been named the fleet publication’s Best Premium Small 4x4 for 2016. This award follows those won by the Range Rover Evoque which claimed the Small 4x4 titles from BusinessCar 2015 and 2013.

Land Rover has claimed a hat-trick of accolades in the coveted What Car? Awards for 2016, with new Discovery Sport winning its second major award by voted the Best Large SUV title in one of the most keenly contested divisions of the competition, with judges citing its “superb blend of body control, brilliant practicality and high quality”.

The one-off Land Rover ‘Defender 2,000,000’ fetched £400,000 at a prestigious charity auction held at Bonhams in London during December 2015. All proceeds from the sale were donated to Land Rovers humanitarian and conservation partners, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), who will use the donation towards its work in Nepal, and the Born Free Foundation, who will use the funds raised to support the ‘Project Lion Rover’ conservation initiative in Meru National Park, Kenya.
