This is something that is just too good to miss and goes a long way to prove that the New Range Rover Sport is probably one of the finest, if not the best, sporting SUV's around today. Land Rover set up a challenge using a 5.0 litre Supercharged Range Rover Sport (not the SVR version)) to tackle the ultimate all-terrain surfaces on the legendary Inferno downhill ski course in Mürren, Switzerland. They selected British racing driver and the ex-‘Stig’ from BBC's Top Gear, Ben Collins to drive the fearsome 14.9km run, which was completed in 21min 36sec at up to 96mph (155kmh).

On the 28th September 2016, Land Rover revealed the 2017MY New Discovery. This vehicle is the 5th Generation of the iconic brand and is totally different in shape and appearance of its predecessors but very much along the lines of the Discovery Vison Concept vehicle first shown at the New York Motor Show in 2014.

Jaguar Land Rover has very recently announced that it is expanding its range of new INGENIUM engines to incorporate new petrol models which will be available in 2017MY vehicles and will sit alongside the current Ingenium diesel engines giving customers greater choice. Also new is a range of automatic transmissions which will be called TRANSCEND. We set out below an announcement from JLR giving further details relating to these new innovations.

We are now in the season where Land Rover announce the release of new models and facelift/technology enhancements to current vehicles. We know that the New Discovery will take is bow at the Paris Motor Show at the end of this month, whilst the Range Rover Sport has a raft of new engines and technological advancements that take it to a new level.

Land Rover has announced various changes for the 2017MY Range Rover Sport which will go on sale during the winter of 2016. Introduced for the first time in a full sized Land Rover SUV is a 2.0 litre power boosted Ingenium diesel engine, which will make the base model approximately £3,000 cheaper than the current SDV6 vehicle.

Jaguar Land Rover plans to create a fleet of more than 100 research vehicles over the next four years, to develop and test a wide range of Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) technologies. The first of these research cars will be driven on a new 41 mile test route on motorways and urban roads around Coventry and Solihull later this year.

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it is in the early stages of developing self-driving Land Rovers for autonomous off-road driving. This development is the latest technology that will allow its next generation of vehicles to drive themselves over any terrain. Called Autonomous All-Terrain Driving, the research project aims to make the self driving vehicle capable of navigating all surfaces, in all environments.

It is sometimes difficult to comprehend, as it almost seems like yesterday, to realise that Land Rover's compact SUV the Range Rover Evoque has been in production now for 5 years. This milestone was reached on the 4th July 2016 at Jaguar Land Rover's advanced manufacturing facility at Halewood, near Liverpool, where over half a million Evoques have been produced there since 2011.

Land Rover has demonstrated the pulling power of their popular new Discovery Sport SUV by pulling three luxury train carriages weighing 108 tonnes on a 10km journey through the Rhine region of northern Switzerland. The trains total weight was 60 times that of the Discovery Sport and also the equivalent to the weight of a Boeing 757 aircraft.
